Nisha Srivastava Pilates Manchester & Pilates for Sport: Spirit in the Studio CHEK practitioner
There is something truly special about working with Nisha. It is her spirit, authenticity and honesty. Her energy will lift you no matter what sort of day you have had, or what position you are in. She uses movement to navigate herself and clients through the tougher times of life. She has been in the business of fitness and movement for over 30 years.
She first started out as a dance teacher, teaching at her local dance school whilst attending Merseyside Dance and Drama centre. From their she had a short stint in Bollywood working for the late Sunil Anand (DevAnands son)
Whilst running ‘Alhambra Academy school of dance and drama’, Nisha embarked on her pilates training which then lead her to many other modalities including yoga, GYROTONIC, anatomical dissection and her present training with the CHEK institute. Paul CHEK wrapped everything up for her with a holistic approach, meaning mind, body and soul. Nisha now runs Pilates Manchester in Sale, M33 and pilates4sport in St.Helens, Merseyside.
Her premises and demeanour are full of soul with natural daylight, plants and a recycling ethos. The word spirit comes from Latin spīritus, meaning “breath” or “breathing,” which entered English via Old French espirit in the Middle Ages. Every time we meet someone or engage with something in life we share and pass on our spirit. Our breath holds the answer to our soul. The breath is the first contact with the world and the last before we die. We live in earth school and our purpose is to create more than we consume.
Nisha now coaches and specializes in injury prevention and sports rehabilitation programs for football. Whilst they contain some pilates, there are many other elements including functional movement, holistic lifestyle and breathwork to name but a few. Pilates and Yoga are amazing systems and neither are meant to imitate or relace strength and conditioning or such practices taught by Charles Poliquin including weight training and body building. Pilates itself uses gravity plus a variety of apparatus with spring resistance in righting and tilting reflexes. Yoga uses body weight and has eight main limbs with great variety in teaching standards and qualifications like pilates.
‘I’ve been going to Nisha’s classes in person for more than five years. She is excellent at what she does – really cares about her clients, really makes sure you are doing things properly and she is very encouraging. There is a reason her client list has included Sting, Will Young, Sir Ian McKellen and former Man City captain Vincent Kompany. Absolutely take her classes. They may be slightly more than others on offer, but she doesn’t scrimp on quality kit or the experience. It’s worth every penny.’ – Rowan Bridge, BBC newsreader/ reporter and journalist.
Nisha works in the community and celebrities plus sports stars. Clients she has worked with, include; Sting, Sir Ian Mckellen, Steven Pinnear, Will Young, Belinda Carlisle, Phil Neville and Vincent Kompany. She has also worked extensively in professional and league football and also Rugby league and union over the years. Her clubs and experience can be seen on linked in here:
Compassion, empathy and love are Nisha’s highest values in life and she understands that we all have our own opinions, triggers and level of awareness. It is easy to judge, criticise and pull others down online. True wisdom is not reacting from a place of fear with anger, jealousy and hate when others attack, but to reflect, pause and breathe.
Remember hurt people only hurt other people. Sending that person love from a distance in order to heal is the best thing we can do.
‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that’. Martin Luthor King.
