My body betrayed me! OR Did you betray your body?

There are three levels of awareness to our being:

  1. Conscious
  2. Sub conscious
  3. Super conscious

Our body always reflects our choices, how we are dealing with life and our emotional state. We all have our own coping mechanisms and are trying to get through life the best we can. Our behaviour and choices are a reflection of our level of awareness, the environment to which we are in and also the influence of our peer group.  Any trauma always is reflected at a physical, mental emotional and physic level. It’s called earth school, we have been put on earth to practice through turmoil which include violence, war, famine, poverty and disease.

Gabor Mate, is a Hungarian-born Canadian physician, author, and renowned expert on addiction, trauma, and childhood development stated; : ‘ Who did you tell?’, ‘NOBODY’ she replied, and that where lies in your suffering, that has become the trauma. He did not say that the violation itself was the trauma, it was the fact that it had not been expressed. We all have our own way of dealing with problems. Using our right brain to express ourselves through movement, sport, journaling, singing, instruments, art and many other artistic modalities, can be a way of dispersing our emotions.

Peter A Levine, Ph.D., is the developer of Somatic Experiencing® (SE™), a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to healing trauma, which he has developed over the past 50 years commented forma different perspective; Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside the absence of an empathic witness’.

So as the opening line appeared, we often betray our body at a subconscious level. All pain is a feedback loop to that something needs more care, love and attention. Taking your attention to a problem area will often release the tension. Any sort of movement practice can help to dissipate and disperse emotions and trauma.

You have been put on earth to transform your life. Your life is meant to be a self practice+ practice. We all practice in some way, shape or form. We all are starting at different places and times in life. Yes we want more flexibility, range of motion, strength and core but we also need musicality, rhythmicality and breathing tone.

Life is a practice to learn, discover, transform and transmute….where, who and what we are.
