Have you heard of the iceberg theory popularised by Sigmeund Freud. He illustrates that 95 % of our behaviours and beliefs come from our mental life that lies beneath the surface. This metaphor represents the three levels of the mind: the conscious (visible tip), the preconscious (just below the surface), and the unconscious (vast submerged portion). The conscious mind consists of thoughts and perceptions that are fully aware at any moment, while the preconscious contains memories and thoughts that are not currently conscious but can be accessed with effort. The unconscious mind, however, is where much of our behaviour is influenced by hidden drives, fears, desires, and memories that shape our actions without our direct knowledge. This theory remains a powerful image of how much of our mental life lies hidden beneath the surface, offering insights into the structure and function of the mind.

Everything that happens on the outside world whether it be war, famine, poverty, crime, politics is all linked with our deep subconscious according to Carl Jung. Yes we communicate verbally and by expression, but its our actual subconscious that is doing the work. The governments always reflect the people. There is so much pain, fear and anger that we lack connection and understanding of the self, by repressing deep seated emotions that then show up as symptoms physically in society either in ourselves or externally. This is where the deep work needs to come in. If we want others to change, we have to start with ourselves. A butterfly flapping its wings in Japan can be felt across the rest of the world. There is so much cruelty, violence, abuse, famine, hate, war and poverty worldwide.  Its not about forgiving these things, its about forgiving the ignorance behind these acts.

Many of the clients that I see plus people that I interact with in every day life get stuck on the model of the medical merry go round. We become isolated in our day to day survival of work, keeping going with hits of coffee. Now how we see ourselves, is how we see the world. Please remember this when judging others (including me). Many of our living in our survival brain which is reptilian (Paul McClean). Many are all so stuck and imprisoned in our cage that when an opportunity arises we continue the same belief and behaviour that got us in it.

Its like the flea who got locked into a jar, when the lid was removed it still did not make its way out. It stayed with what and whom it new. Our greatest pain becomes our greatest drivers it we let them. We all have the ability to become contributors instead of consumers. Innocent misunderstanding of our true self  not only holds us back but keeps us in survival and an emotional state. It is an invisible prison that we stay in. Now the lowest level of development is the reptilian brain including the brain stem. 90 % of a reptiles brain lives in the following three in this order 1. Survival, 2. Sustenance 3. Sex . The reptile does not have the capacity for anything else, this is why a crocodile will eat its babies.

Most people operate form a state of survival/fight and flight which is that brain stem. Not only do you project that but its how you see the world. You see everyone as a predator, food or sexual partner. Now if you choose to live in a state of thriving rather than surviving, you view life in a different lens. Rules, law and restriction can either keep you in a state or repression rather than a state of creativity. Carl Jung stated that the way we relate and perceive the outside world is delivered to us from our parents mainly our mother. We mirror those habits.

As there are patterns in nature such as the seasons, tides, moon and sun and so many others, there are patterns in ourselves.. When you train your eye, it not hard to read the book that someone else is presenting.  We should be reading the story physically , mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We all have a story, breaking the story is something else. One of the ways of breaking the story is to address the breath pattern. 87% of people who present with anxiety have faulty breath patterns connected with hyperventilation. Many people and practitioners are doing breathwork sessions however it does not address root causes of breath path dysfunction. Nine out of 10 people have a breath pattern dysfunction. Even when there is low stress, that person remains in fight, flight or freeze. Low oxygen to the brain and cells needs better vagal tone. Instead of being in a state of too much yang, doing too much or too much yin, feeling depleted we need to be in a space of safety, rest and repair.

Being yang dominant means we always need a hit in order to relax and lose ourselves, for example an over consumption of alcohol. The opposite is being stuck in yin, meaning freezing so you cannot get going. Not reaching your potential is because you are not willing to take action. You are stuck in societal programming and expectations. The programming comes from parents, schools, religion, government, education and institutes. You do not want to rock the boat by questioning. In a nutshell, you are living by others peoples values, societal values that are not working long term and are set up for profit. If its working we would not be generating such a lack of connection in ourselves plus the environment causing sickness and disease.

The pain teacher is so intelligent, its trying to tell us something. It takes 3000-5000 new reps to create a new pattern in the nervous system. Once this is drilled into the nervous system, it is recognised s a pattern.

Starting to take awareness to your breath, will help you understand your state in order to change your physiology. Science can only weigh and measure. It cant measure spirit, mind, soul or lifeforce. Disagree with me, show me the research papers on love. Science has its places, but should always evolve, change theories and be challenged. Our internal world and perception is projected out and shows up in our core values. We are the co-creators of our life. I will always ask you for your win of the week. This is because every time you focus on a win , its a self assessment of the self building self esteem.

‘Run to rescue with love and the peace will follow’.
